Y-DNA Matches Introduction

The Y-DNA Matches page lists your Y-chromosome DNA matches who have taken a FamilyTreeDNA Y-DNA STR (short tandem repeat) test. Your matches are listed (if you have them) at each level you have tested.

Accessing Y-DNA Matches 

You can access the Y-DNA Matches from your dashboard or from your navigation bar.

To access from your dashboard:

1. Sign in to your kit.
2. On your dashboard, locate the Y-DNA Results & Tools widget.
3. On the Y-DNA Results & Tools widget, click the Y-DNA Matches button. 

To access from your navigation bar:

1. Sign in to your kit.
2. On the navigation bar at the top of the page, go to Results & Tools > Y-DNA >  Matches.

Y-DNA Matches Page Overview 

• Detail View/Table View - Select whether you want to see details for each match individually or to view your matches in a sortable table. 
• Matches section - Displays your matches per Y-DNA markers. 
• Export CSV - (Not available at this time.) Allows you to export a CSV file of your Y-DNA matches. 
• Family Tree icon - If your match has a public Family Tree, you can click this icon to view it. 
   - Signifies that your match does not have a public Family Tree.
   - Signifies that your match does have a public Family Tree. 
• Note icon - Click on this icon to add/edit a note for your match. 
   - Signifies you do not have a note added.
   - Signifies that you do have a note added. 
• FTDNATiP™ Report icon - Click this to open the Most Recent Common Ancestor Time Predictor based on Y-STR Genetic Distance.
