When placing your order, you can either ship the kit to yourself or provide the recipient's shipping address, and we will ship the DNA kit directly to them.
Kit activation happens at the time of purchase, and we will immediately begin sending relevant email notifications regarding order confirmation and tracking.
If you provided your email at the time of purchase because the gift was a surprise, once you give them the test kit, please be sure to forward the informational sign-in email that you received to them.
You can gift a test to anyone over the age of 13. International law prohibits anyone under the age of 13 to maintain an online account, including a DNA kit account. However, a kit can be gifted to anyone 13 years or older.
It is important to note that when you gift a test to someone between the ages of 13 and 18 they must have their parent’s or guardian’s approval for FamilyTreeDNA to accept and process their DNA samples.
The person to whom you gift a test (or the parent/guardian of testers between 13 and 18) must agree to and accept FamilyTreeDNA’s Terms of Service.
