The Public Website tool allows you to set up and manage your Public Project Website.
Accessing the Admin Public Website Tool
To access this page:
- Sign in to your GAP account by entering your Project Administrator username and password.
- On the navigation bar, hover your cursor over Project Admin and click Public Website on the drop-down menu.
OR
In the lower section of your GAP dashboard, in the Project Administration section, click Public Website.
You are directed to the Public Website tool.
Controls and Columns
The Public Website tool contains six main tabs.

Note: It is important to click the Save Settings after making any changes on any of these tabs.
Site Configuration
Set what information we display on your Public Project Website. The Site Configuration tab contains the following controls:

- Title – In this field, enter the project name as you wish it to display on your project’s website. Note: This changes how the project name is displayed on the Public Website. It does not change the URL for the project page.
- Administrator Options
- Join Link – Select this check box to display the Join button on the project’s website.
- Project Surnames – Select this check box to display the surnames option to be displayed in the left sidebar of the project's website. The Surnames option displays an index of all surnames listed in the Search Terms section of the Project Profile tool as well as the number of project members with those surnames.
- General Fund Options
- General Fund Donations Link – Select this check box to display the Donate button on the project’s website.
- General Fund Donations Text – Select this check box to display the current total of the project general fund on the project’s website.
- Display options
- Show Row Numbers on Reports – Select this check box to display a column for row number on Y-DNA and mtDNA results pages on the project's website.
- Display Name
- Member's Last Name – Select this check box to display project member's last names as provided on the project member’s FamilyTreeDNA Account Settings Contact Information tab on Y-DNA and mtDNA results pages on the project's website.
- Earliest Known Ancestor – Select this check box to display project member's earliest known ancestors as provided on the project member’s FamilyTreeDNA Account Settings Earliest Known Ancestors tab on Y-DNA and mtDNA results pages on the project's website.
- Member's Last Name and Earliest Known Ancestor – Select this check box to display both the project member's earliest known ancestors as provided on the project member’s Earliest Known Ancestors tab and the on Y-DNA and project member's last names as provided on the project member’s FamilyTreeDNA Account Settings Contact Information tab on Y-DNA and mtDNA results pages on the project's website.
- None– Select this check box to display neither the project member's earliest known ancestors nor last names.
- Project Statistics Options
- Display Project Statistics – Select this check box to display the Project Statistics tab option to be displayed in the About Us section of the project's website. The Project Statistics index shows the total number of each test type for project members.
- Public Map Display
- Earliest Known Ancestor – Select this check box to display the project member's earliest known ancestors as provided on the project member’s Earliest Known Ancestors tab on the Member Distribution Map.
- Kit Number– Select this check box to display the project member's kit numbers on the Member Distribution Map.
- Member's Last Name– Select this check box to display the project member's last name as provided on the project member’s Contact Information tab.
- URLs
- Website – Lists the URL of the project's website.
- YDNA Options
- Member DNA Test (YDNA) Results
- Public – Select this check box to display the Y-DNA Results pages on the project's website to both group members and anyone visiting the page.
- Project Members Only – Select this check box to display the Y-DNA Results pages on the project's website only to both group members signed into their kits.
- Do Not Display – Select this check box to not display the Y-DNA Results pages on the project's website to anyone.
- Ancestor's (YDNA) Map
- Public – Select this check box to display the Y-DNA Member Distribution Map on the project's website to both group members and anyone visiting the page.
- Project Members Only – Select this check box to display the Y-DNA Member Distribution Map on the project's website only to both group members signed into their kits.
- Do Not Display – Select this check box to not display the Y-DNA Member Distribution Map on the project's website to anyone.
- Y-DNA SNP
- Public – Select this check box to display the Y-DNA SNP Page on the project's website to both group members and anyone visiting the page.
- Project Members Only – Select this check box to display the Y-DNA SNP Page on the project's website only to both group members signed into their kits.
- Do Not Display – Select this check box to not display the Y-DNA SNP Page on the project's website to anyone.

- Member DNA Test (mtDNA) Results
- Public – Select this check box to display the mtDNA Results pages on the project's website to both group members and anyone visiting the page.
- Project Members Only – Select this check box to display the mtDNA Results pages on the project's website only to both group members signed into their kits.
- Do Not Display – Select this check box to not display the mtDNA Results pages on the project's website to anyone.
- Ancestor's (mtDNA) Map
- Public – Select this check box to display the mtDNA Member Distribution Map on the project's website to both group members and anyone visiting the page.
- Project Members Only – Select this check box to display the mtDNA Member Distribution Map on the project's website only to both group members signed into their kits.
- Do Not Display – Select this check box to not display the mtDNA Member Distribution Map on the project's website to anyone.
- Member DNA Test (mtDNA) CRS Results
- Public – Select this check box to display the mtDNA Results Classic page on the project's website to both group members and anyone visiting the page.
- Project Members Only – Select this check box to display the mtDNA Results Classic page on the project's website only to both group members signed into their kits.
- Do Not Display – Select this check box to not display the mtDNA Results Classic page on the project's website to anyone.
- Member DNA Test (mtDNA) Results
Background
Provide information about the history and mission of your project. Input may be either plain text or HTML.
Goals
Provide the goals of your project. Input may be either plain text or HTML.
News
Post news about your project. Input may be either plain text or HTML.
Updates
Provide updates about your project. Input may be either plain text or HTML. Note: This section will only be available to group members when signed into their kits.
Bulletin
Provide miscellaneous information regarding your project. Input may be either plain text or HTML.

Results
Provide information about your project’s discoveries. Input may be either plain text or HTML.
Code of Conduct
Provide guidance to your group's members about the content they post to the activity feed.

FAQ
Provide quick answers to frequently asked questions of your group's members.
