Using the Admin - mtDNA Results Report

The mtDNA Results report displays group members' mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) test results and maternal ancestry. Results are displayed in subgroups that you have set on the Project Management Member Subgrouping tool.

Controls and Columns

The mtDNA Results report contains the following controls:

  1. RSRS Results – This is the default. It displays members’ results as differences from the RSRS standard.
  2. Detailed RSRS Results – This changes the display to show only those people with mtDNA full sequence results. Rather than their differences to the RSRS, this version of the report shows their differences from the modal values of their assigned haplogroup. Additional mutations are shown without parentheses. Expected mutations that are missing are shown with parentheses. Note that it only displays those project members who have mtDNA full sequence test results and have their display turned on for your project.
  3. CRS Results – This allows you to view results using the old rCRS comparison. Note that this is a legacy view. Therefore, customer service will not be able to answer questions about it.
  4. Page Size – This allows you to set the number of rows of member results displayed on each page. Note: Large page sizes will reduce page load times and may not work.
  5. Show Advanced Filter – Click to display the following fields:

    1. Kit Number – Allows you to filter/search the table by member kit number.
    2. Name – Allows you to filter/search the table by name of the project member provided on the project member’s FamilyTreeDNA account Contact Information tab.
    3. Haplogroup – Allows you to filter/search the table by the project member’s mtDNA haplogroup as determined by either the backbone test included in HVR1 and HVR1&2 tests or the results from their mtDNA full sequence test.
    4. Mitotree Haplogroup – Allows you to filter/search the table by the project member's mtDNA haplogroup as determined by the FamilyTreeDNA mtDNA Haplotree.
    5. Haplotype – Allows you to filter/search the table by the project member's mtDNA unique haplotype.
    6. HVR1 – Allows you to filter/search the table by mutations found in the Hyper Variable Region 1 (HVR1) that differ from either the RSRS or rCRS standard.
    7. HVR2 – Allows you to filter/search the table by mutations found in the Hyper Variable Region 2 (HVR2) that differ from either the RSRS or rCRS standard.
    8. Coding Region Mutations – Allows you to filter/search the table by mutations found in the Coding Region that differ from either the RSRS or rCRS standard.
  6. Export Spreadsheet – Click to export the Member Notes table to a spreadsheet.
  7. Highlight Icon – This highlights the specified row.
  8. Kit Number – Project member’s kit number that was assigned with their first order. You may click on the kit number to view their results if they have set their Account Settings Project Preferences Group Administrator Access level to either Limited or Advanced.
  9. Name – Name of the project member provided on the project member’s Account Settings Contact Information tab.
  10. Maternal Ancestor Name: Known name of the earliest known direct maternal ancestor as provided on the member’s Earliest Known Ancestors tab. If the project member has not entered this information, No Location Saved is displayed in this column.
  11. Country – Maternal country of origin associated with the project member as provided on the member’s Earliest Known Ancestors tab. If the project member has not entered this information, Unknown Origin is displayed in this column.
  12. Subgroup – Displays the mtDNA subgroup to which the project member is assigned. This column will list Ungrouped if the member is not assigned to an mtDNA subgroup. Clicking on the subgroup for a particular group member will allow the following options:

    1. Subgroup - Clicking this box will display a drop-down menu where you may select subgroups created in the Member Subgrouping tool.
    2. Save Icon – Clicking this will add the group member to the subgroup you have selected.
    3. Cancel – Clicking this icon will cancel any changes made to the subgroup.
  13. Haplogroup: This is the project member’s mtDNA haplogroup as determined by either the backbone test included in mtDNA Plus tests or the results from their mtFull test.
  14. Mitotree Haplogroup – This is the project member's mtDNA haplogroup as determined by the FamilyTreeDNA mtDNA Haplotree.
  15. Haplotype – This is the project member's mtDNA unique haplotype.
  16. HVR1 Mutations – These are the mutations from the first hypervariable region found in the Hyper Variable Region 1 (HVR1) that differ from either the RSRS or rCRS standard.
  17. HVR2 Mutations – These are the mutations found in the Hyper Variable Region 2 (HVR2) that differ from either the RSRS or rCRS standard.
  18. Coding Region Mutations – These are the mutations found in the Coding Region that differ from either the RSRS or rCRS standard.

Each column may be sorted in ascending or descending order. To sort in ascending order (A->Z or 1->10), click on the column name once. To sort in descending order (Z->A or 10->1), click on the column name twice.
