The results from any Y-DNA SNP test you take are available to download as a Comma Separated Value (.csv) format file from your FamilyTreeDNA Account. This file includes SNPs from Big Y, SNP Panels, individual SNPs, and transfers from the Geno 2.0 test. The .csv file is available on your Y-DNA Haplotree and SNPs page and can be accessed in a few different ways.

Understanding Your SNP Results Download
Your data file will be downloaded to your computer’s default download location, usually your Download folder. It will be in Comma Separated Value (.csv) format and can be opened with Microsoft Excel, Notepad, or other programs. When opened with Microsoft Excel, the following columns are displayed:
- SNP Name - The designation for a specific polymorphism as defined in the Haplotree maintained by FamilyTreeDNA.
- Test Result - Whether the tested SNP is positive (derived) or negative (ancestral) as compared to hg38.
- Test Type - The test or transfer where the SNP result came from. Eg - BigY-700, SNP pack, etc.
When opened using Notepad, the data for each SNP will appear in a single line in the format: SNP Name,Test Results,Test Type.
Note: This data format does not contain chromosome position information
