Getting Started with Two-Factor Authentication - 2FA

Two-Factor Authentication (commonly called 2FA) provides an extra layer of security to prevent unauthorized access to your account(s). Beginning on September 30, 2025, you will be prompted to set up 2FA the first time you sign in. This is optional for Kit Numbers, but mandatory for GAP Usernames. You can read about 2FA and why it is important in this article

Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

After you have signed in to your Kit Number/GAP Username, you will be prompted to set up 2FA if you have not already done so. The setup wizard will walk you through the process.

Recovery Email

A recovery email acts as a backup email address if you can no longer access your primary email address. If you forget your email password, get locked out of your email account, or encounter other problems, it is important to have a backup. This step is optional, but we recommend adding a recovery email to ensure that your data can still be accessed by you and your designated kit manager(s).

IMPORTANT: Your recovery email must be different from the two-factor authentication email address you listed in step 2. If you do not have a second email address, you may skip this step.
