The Shopping Cart and Checkout pages offer a variety of DNA test kits based on your genealogical goals. Each collection kit comes with a unique identifying code called a kit number. This number identifies your DNA sample when it is sent to the lab, and is what is used to sign into your account.
Because each kit is tied to a specific DNA sample, it is important to order a new kit for each friend or family member you test, rather than order a test on your existing kit(s).
If you already have a test with us, make sure you are not signed into your kit when ordering a new test for someone who has not tested with us before. Otherwise the new test will be run on the sample connected to the kit you are signed into.
Ordering tests for existing test takers
If you have already purchased a test for yourself or a family member, it is important to sign into your kit before ordering additional testing. This way all the test results for an individual are available under the same kit number.
A note on Bundles
We offer an automatic $9 discount for two tests ordered at the same time for the same test taker, and $18 for three or more. Bundles cannot be split between more than one test taker.
Accessing the Shopping Cart and Checkout Pages
The shopping cart can be accessed in a number of ways depending on whether or not you are signed into a kit, and what page you access the cart from. If you are a new customer, you can explore our different tests on the Product page.
Shopping Cart and Checkout Pages Overview
The Shopping Cart page allows you to select which test product(s) you wish to purchase. The page contains the following fields.
- New Kit - This indicates if you are signed into your kit or not. If you are signed into a kit, any test you order will be run on the existing sample for that kit.
- Genetic Sex - Y-DNA tests are not available for genetic females, so this helps ensure the test you get is available for the test taker. It is also an extra step in the process to make sure the sample matches the test taker.
- Test List - Displays available DNA tests, prices, and options to add items to the current kit.
- Create a New Kit Button - Adds an additional, separate testing kit to the order for another person.
- Subtotal Display - Shows the combined cost of all selected tests before shipping and discounts. Tax is included in this price.
-

The Checkout page contains the following:

You can always change the name to that of the test taker when it arrives, if needed. - Phone Number Field - Depending on location and shipping method, a phone number may be needed. For this reason it is a required field.
