FamilyTreeDNA Y-DNA Discover™ provides a variety of in-depth tools and reports for your Y-DNA results. It is available to customers as well as non-customers, though customers with a Big Y-700 test will receive a more personalized experience. There are two ways to access mtDNA Discover: while visiting as a guest, and while signed into a kit.
Accessing Y-DNA Discover™ As a Guest
- Go to https://discover.familytreedna.com/ or type FamilyTreeDNA Discover into your web browser or search engine
- Select which Discover Haplogroup Report you access (Y-DNA, mtDNA, or Group Project) by using this drop-down menu. Y-DNA is set as the default set of Haplogroup Reports.
- Enter the Y-DNA haplogroup you wish to explore
- Click Search
Accessing Y-DNA Discover™ As a User
For a more personalized experience, sign into your kit. When Signed in you can access mtDNA Discover™ from your dashboard or from your navigation bar.
Accessing Y-DNA Discover™ from your Dashboard
From your main dashboard, Y-DNA Discover can be accessed from a variety of places on your dashboard. Your options may vary from the image below depending on the test type(s) you have.
- Sign in to your kit
- On your dashboard, locate the Y-DNA Results & Tools section or the Big Y section
- Click or tap the Discover™ Haplogroups Reports button or the Discover™ Globetrekker button
- You are directed to the main landing page for Y-DNA Discover™.
Accessing Y-DNA Discover™ from your drop-down menu
- Sign in to your kit.
- Hover your mouse over Results & Tools on the navigation bar at the top of the page.
- Follow the drop-down menus from either the Y-DNA or Big Y section of the drop-down menu.
- Click or tap the Discover™ Haplogroups Reports option
NOTE: If you are a male test taker with a Family Finder test or autosomal transfer, but not a Y-DNA test, your results will still be accessible from the Y-DNA Results and Tools section of your Dashboard, though you will not have access to certain Y-DNA Discover™ tools such as the Match Time Tree.
