If you uploaded a family tree to or built one on FamilyTreeDNA prior to our connection to the MyHeritage tree builder, your tree has been archived and is accessible in a read-only format.
This article is for accounts that have not been connected to a MyHeritage account. If you have linked your account to a MyHeritage account, please see our Managing your MyHeritage Family Tree Connection article.
Accessing tree settings
To access your Tree Settings page:
- Sign in to your kit.
- In the upper-right corner of the page, hover your cursor over your name/Kit No.
- Click on Account Settings from the drop-down menu.
- Click on Genealogy page.
- You are directed to the Family Tree tab of the Genealogy Page.
Family Tree Archived Tree options
This tree is read-only, meaning that you are unable to edit, add or remove nodes, change information, or link matches. All of your research and connections are preserved.
For archived trees, the Family Tree tab settings have the following options:
- Learn More - Provides more information about utilizing the MyHeritage tree.
- View Archived Tree button - Allows you to view your archived tree.
From View Archived Tree button you can:

- Download your archived tree as a GEDCOM
- Export a .csv file of linked matches
- Import the direct maternal and direct paternal surnames in your tree to the Ancestral Surnames Page.
- Delete the tree. Please note that this step is irreversible. If you delete the tree from here, it cannot be restored.
