The FTDNATiP™ Report is a program that incorporates Y-chromosome DNA STR mutation rates to increase the power and precision of estimates of Time to Most Recent Common Ancestor (TMRCA).
Accessing the FTDNATiP™ Report
You can access the FTDNATiP™ Report from your Y-DNA Matches page.
To access the report: :
- Sign in to your kit.
-
On your dashboard, locate the Y-DNA Results & Tools widget, and click the Y-Matches button.
OR
On the navigation bar at the top of the page, go to Results & Tools > Y-DNA > Matches.
You are directed to the Y-DNA Matches page. - Navigate to the match you would like to compare, and click the FTDNATiP™ Report button on the right-hand side of the page next to that match.
Understanding the FTDNATiP™ Report
The FTDNATiP™ Report automatically provides a chart listing an estimate of the Time to Most Recent Common Ancestor (TMRCA) between your match and yourself. This chart also includes all genetic distance (GD) possibilities at all marker levels. The TMRCA for your match will be highlighted.
Clicking on this estimate will provide a graph listing probabilities of TMRCA at different Confidence intervals (CI).
Using the FTDNATiP™ Report
Regardless of the specific GD between yourself and your match, you will be able to click on any given GD to see a probability graph like the example above.
Clicking on any of the columns in the bottom row will provide a chart of all probability charts of each GD for a given marker level.
As the marker level increases, the time frame becomes more narrow, and the test becomes more refined.
