The Public Results Display Settings tool lists the privacy and display settings of group members for mitochondrial (mtDNA) and Y-Chromosome DNA (Y-DNA) test results on the project website.
Accessing the Public Results Display Settings Tool
To access this page:
- Sign in to your GAP account by entering your Project Administrator username and password.
- On the navigation bar, hover your cursor over Project Admin and click Public Results Display Settings on the drop-down menu.

In the lower section of your GAP dashboard, in the Project Administration section, click Public Results Display Settings.
You are directed to the Public Results Display Settings Tool.
Controls and Columns
The Public Results Display Settings tool contains the following controls:
- Page Size – This is the number of results that will be displayed on each page of the comparison table.
- Show Advanced Filter – Click to display the following fields:
- Name – Allows you to filter/search the table by member name.
- KitNum – Allows you to filter/search the table by kit number.
- Paternal Country – Allows you to filter/search the table by paternal country of origin.
- Maternal Country – Allows you to filter/search the table by maternal country of origin.
- Display Y-DNA – Allows you to filter/search the table by group members according to their Y-DNA display settings in their Account Settings Project Preferences.
- Display mtDNA – Allows you to filter/search the table by group members according to their mtDNA display settings in their Account Settings Project Preferences.
- Run Filter – Click this button to filter/search the table corresponding to the filter options you have selected or input.
- Action To Perform – This section corresponds to the rows that you highlight with the check box in the left-hand column of the table. This feature allows you to manually update whether or not to display results for one or more group members in the Y-DNA and mtDNA results pages on the Public Project website.
- Drop Down List – Options include Hide Y-DNA, Show Y-DNA, Hide mtDNA, and Hide mtDNA.
- Update Selected Rows – Click this button to update the group member(s) to the display option you have selected in the Drop-Down List.
The Order Summary page contains the following columns:
- Kit Number – Project member’s kit number that was assigned with their first order. You may click on the kit number to view their results if they have set their Account Settings Project Preferences Group Administrator Access level to either Limited or Advanced.
- Name – Name of the project member provided on the project member’s FamilyTreeDNA account Contact Information tab.
- Paternal Country – Lists the paternal country of origin associated with the project member as provided on the member’s FamilyTreeDNA Earliest Known Ancestors tab in Account Settings. If the project member does not have this information entered on their Earliest Known Ancestors tab, Unknown Origin is displayed in this column.
- Maternal Country – Lists the maternal country of origin associated with the project member as provided on the member’s Earliest Known Ancestors tab. If the project member does not have this information entered on their Earliest Known Ancestors tab, Unknown Origin is displayed in this column.
- Display Y-DNA – Allows you to filter/search the table by group members according to their Y-DNA display settings in their Project Preferences.
- Display mtDNA – Allows you to filter/search the table by group members according to their mtDNA display settings in their Project Preferences.
