Controls and Columns

The Family Finder Group Report contains the following controls:

  • Show Advanced Filter – Click to display the following fields:
    • Kit Number – Allows you to filter/search the table by kit number.
    • Name – Allows you to filter/search the table by member name.
    • Surnames – Allows you to filter/search the table by the surnames and associated places provided by the project member on the project member’s FamilyTreeDNA Account Settings Surnames tab.
  • Export Spreadsheet – Click to export the Member Information table to a spreadsheet.

The Family Finder Group Report contains the following columns:

  • Kit Number – Project member’s kit number that was assigned with their first order. You may click on the kit number to view their results if they have set their Account Settings Project Preferences Group Administrator Access level to either Limited or Advanced.
  • Name – Name of the project member provided on the project member’s FamilyTreeDNA Account Settings Surnames tab.
  • Surnames – These are the surnames and associated places provided by the project member on the project member’s Account Settings Surnames tab.
  • Run Report – Use the Arrow icon to find matches within your project for a particular project member.

Running the Report

Clicking the Arrow icon to run a Family Finder Group report for a group member will produce a table with the following columns:

  • Name – Name of the project member provided on the project member’s FamilyTreeDNA Account Settings Surnames tab.
  • Surnames – These are the surnames and associated places provided by the project member on the project member’s Account Settings Surnames tab.
  • Run Report – Use the Arrow icon to find matches within your project for a particular project member.

Below the table will be listed the following controls:

  • Download CM data for [Project Member] – Clicking this button will download a .csv file containing the following columns:
    • Name – Name of the project member provided on the project member’s FamilyTreeDNA Account Settings Surnames tab.
    • Match Name – Name of the project member's autosomal matches who are also in the project.
    • Chromosome – The chromosome where the shared DNA is located.
    • Start Position – Build 37 starting position of a shared segment of autosomal DNA.
    • End Position – Build 37 starting position of a shared segment of autosomal DNA.
    • Total CM – The total number of centimorgans within the matching block of autosomal DNA
    • Number of SNPs– The total number of individual autosomal SNPs within the shared block of autosomal DNA.
  • Close – This will deselect your selected project member and return you to the complete list of project members

Below these controls will be a chart containing all of the selected group members' autosomal matches. This column will contain the following columns:

  • Kit Number – Project member’s kit number that was assigned with their first order.
  • Name – Name of the project member provided on the project member’s Account Settings Surnames tab.
  • Shared Centimorgans – The number of centimorgans shared with the selected project member.
  • Longest Centimorgans – The size of the longest block of autosomal DNA shared with the selected project member.
  • Shared Segments – The number of discrete segments of autosomal DNA shared with the selected project member.
  • Relationship Range – This is an estimate of the number of generations removed from a common ancestor for the two matches.
  • Result Back – The date the results were completed for the match.
  • Run Report – This will generate a report specifying only the shared DNA between this match and the selected project member.

Running the Report between Two Members

When you select the Arrow icon to select a match from the specified group member's list, it will generate a report specifying only the shared DNA between this match and the selected project member. This report can be downloaded as specified above.

The report will include the information listed above as well as a third chart listing the members of the project who are matches to both selected individuals. This chart contains the following columns:

  • Kit Number – Project member’s kit number that was assigned with their first order.
  • Match Kit Number – Kit number of the match the two project members have in common.
  • Chromosome – The chromosome where the shared DNA is located.
  • Begin Position – Build 37 starting position of a shared segment of autosomal DNA.
  • End Position – Build 37 ending position of a shared segment of autosomal DNA.
  • Centimorgans – The total number of centimorgans within the matching block of autosomal DNA.
  • SNPs – The total number of individual autosomal SNPs within the shared block of autosomal DNA.

The Kit NumberName, and Surnames columns may be sorted in ascending or descending order. To sort in ascending order (A->Z or 1->10), click on the column name once. To sort in descending order (Z->A or 10->1), click on the column name twice. You may download the report table by clicking on the
