The Family Finder Group Matrix tool allows you to select project members and compare their Family Finder relationships in a grid (matrix).
Accessing the Family Finder™ Group Matrix Tool
To access this page:
- Sign in to your GAP account by entering your Project Administrator username and password.

On the navigation bar, hover your cursor over Reports > Genetic Reports, and click Family Finder Group Matrix on the drop-down menu.
OR
In the lower section of your GAP dashboard, in the Genetic Reports section, click Family Finder Group Matrix.
You are directed to the Family Finder Group Matrix tool.
Controls and Columns
The Family Finder Group Matrix tool contains the following controls divided into two columns:
Group Members
These are project members who have Family Finder test results and are available to be added to the grid.
- Search Name – Enter the name of the group member you would like to search for.
- Clear – Click this button to clear any search terms you have entered in the Search Name Field and revert to the full list.
- Member List – These are project members who have a Family FIider test and have signed their release form. Click on a member's name to select it.
- Add – Click this button to add the selected group members to the Selected Members list.
- Select Data To Display For Comparison – This is the type of data that will be compared. Options are Total CentiMorgans (cM), Shared Segments, and Relationship Range.
Selected Members
These are project members you have selected from the Group Members list.
- Search Name – Enter the name of the selected member you would like to search for.
- Clear – Click this button to clear any search terms you have entered in the Search Name Field and revert to the full list of members you have selected.
- Member List – These are project members who are currently included in the grid. Click on a member's name to select it.
- Remove – Click this button to remove the group member you have selected from the Selected Members list.
- Move Up – Click this button to move the group members you have selected from the Selected Members list one line up. Note: If you select more than one member at a time, the Move Up function will only apply to the member nearest the top of the list.
- Move Down – Click this button to move the group members you have selected from the Selected Members list one line up. Note: If you select more than one member at a time, the Move Down function will only apply to the member nearest the top of the list.
