The Family Finder Matrix allows you to select up to 10 of your matches and compare them to each other to see if they have an autosomal genetic relationship between each other.
Accessing
You can access Family Finder Matrix from your dashboard or from your navigation bar.
To access from your dashboard:
- Sign in to your kit.
- On your dashboard, locate the Autosomal DNA Results & Tools widget.
- On the Autosomal DNA Results & Tools widget, click the See More button, and select Matrix.
To access from your navigation bar:
- Sign in to your kit.
- On the navigation bar at the top of the page, go to Results & Tools > Autosomal DNA > Matrix.
Using the Family Finder™ Matrix
- In the lower-left section of the page, a list box containing the names of your matches is displayed.

From this list, select the match you want to compare, and click the Add button. The match is added to the list box at the right of the Add button.
Do this for each match you want to compare. -
Once you have added at least two matches, the Matrix Matches grid is displayed below the list box. This grid displays the selected matches.
If the two people listed match each other, you will see a blue check mark is displayed in their matching grid box. - To remove a name, in the list to the right, select the match you want to remove, and click the Remove button.

Matches Who Have a Genetic Relationship
When two of the matches you selected have a genetic relationship, a blue checkmark is displayed in the matrix grid.
For example, in the Sample Matrix image above, Rosemary and Debra have a genetic relationship.
Matches Who Do Not Have a Genetic Relationship
When two of the matches you selected do not have a genetic relationship, the matrix grid is blank.
For example, in the Sample Matrix image above, Jami does not have a genetic relationship with either Rosemary or Debra.
