Setting Email Notification Preferences

Match Notifications

Email notifications will be sent to you when you have a new match at the levels you select in this section.

Family Finder™

The Family Finder section allows you to choose whether or not you want to receive email notifications for new Family Finder matches and for which match levels you receive the notifications.

Maybe note that only Immediate and close matches trigger email notifications, all other match levels will not generate an email

The following options are available in this section:

  • Immediate - Select this toggle switch (it will turn blue) if you want to receive notifications when you have a new Immediate match.
  • Close - Select this toggle switch (it will turn blue)if you want to receive notifications when you have a new Close match.
  • If you do not want to receive any Family Finder new match notifications, then make sure that neither of the toggle switch is selected (gray).

Note: For the Family Finder, only Immediate and Close matches trigger email notifications. All other match levels do not generate an email when a match is made.

mtDNA

The mtDNA section allows you to choose whether or not you want to receive email notifications for new mtDNA matches and for which match levels you receive the notifications.

Note: If you have not taken an mtDNA test, this section is still displayed on your Notification Preferences page. You do not need to make any selections in this section, and likewise, you will not receive any form of mtDNA match emails.

The following options are available in this section:

  • HVR1 - Select this toggle switch (it will turn blue) if you want to receive notifications when you have a new match at the HVR1 match level.
  • HVR1/HVR2 - Select this toggle switch (it will turn blue) if you want to receive notifications when you have a new match at the HVR1/HVR2 match level.
  • If you do not select an option in this section, you will still receive coding region matches (mtFullSequence matches).

Y-DNA

The Y-DNA section allows you to choose whether or not you want to receive email notifications for new Y-DNA matches and for which match levels you receive the notifications.

Note: If you have not taken a Y-DNA test, this section is still displayed on your Notification Preferences page. You do not need to make any selections in this section, and likewise, you will not receive any form of Y-DNA match emails.

The following options are available in this section:

  • Y-12 - Click this toggle switch (it will turn blue) if you want to receive notifications when you have a new match at the Y-12 match level.
  • Y-25 - Click this toggle switch (it will turn blue) if you want to receive notifications when you have a new match at the Y-25 match level.
  • Y-37 - Click this toggle switch (it will turn blue) if you want to receive notifications when you have a new match at the Y-37 match level.
  • Y-67 - Click this toggle switch (it will turn blue) if you want to receive notifications when you have a new match at the Y-67 match level.
  • Y-111 - Click this toggle switch (it will turn blue) if you want to receive notifications when you have a new match at the Y-111 match level.
  • If you do not want to receive any Y-DNA new match notifications, then make sure that none of the toggle switches (gray) are selected.

Big Y 

The Big Y section allows you to choose whether or not you want to receive email notifications for new Big Y matches.

  • If you want to receive email notifications for new Big Y-500 matches, click the New Big Y  matches toggle switch (it will turn blue).
  • If you do not want to receive any email notifications for Big Y matches, then make sure that the New Big Y matches toggle switch is not selected (gray). 

Project Notifications

The Projects section allows you to choose whether or not you want to receive bulk emails sent by your Group Administrators.

Note: If you are not a member of a Group Project, this section is still displayed on your Notification Preferences page. You do not need to make any selections in this section, and likewise, you will not receive any form of Group Project bulk emails.

  • If you want to receive bulk emails from your Group Administrators, click the Subscribe toggle switch (it will turn blue).
  • If you do not want to receive bulk emails from your Group Administrators, then make sure that the Subscribe toggle switch is not selected (gray). 

Marketing Emails

The Marketing email section allows you to choose which emails you want to receive from our Marketing department.

  • If you want to receive a certain type of email, click the toggle switch to On (it will turn blue).
  • If you do not want to receive a certain type of email, make sure that the toggle switch is Off (gray). 

Multiple Kits, Same Email? 

If you use the same active primary email for multiple kits, when you set Marketing email preferences for one of those kits, the Marketing email preferences for the other kits are automatically updated.

  • Blog updates 
  • Surveys/Feedback
  • Personalized Offers
  • Educational Emails
  • Product Updates/Newsletter
  • Shopping Cart Notifications
