Accessing mtDNA Discover™

FamilyTreeDNA mtDNA Discover™ provides a variety of in-depth tools and reports for your mtDNA results. It is available to customers as well as non-customers, though customers with an mtFull Sequence test will receive a more personalized experience. There are two ways to access mtDNA Discover: while visiting as a guest, and while signed into a kit.

Accessing mtDNA Discover™ As A Guest

1. Go to https://discover.familytreedna.com/ or type it into your web browser or search engine.
2. Select mtDNA in the drop down menu.
   • Other options include Discover for Y-DNA and Discover for group projects. 
3. Enter the mtDNA haplogroup you wish to explore.
4. Click Search.

Accessing mtDNA Discover™ As A User

For a more personalized experience, sign into your kit. When Signed in you can access mtDNA Discover™ from your dashboard or from your navigation bar.

To access from your dashboard:

1. Sign in to your kit.
2. On your dashboard, locate the mtDNA Results & Tools section.
3. On the mtDNA Results & Tools section, click the Discover™ Haplogroups Reports button. 
4. You are directed to the Your Haplogroup Story page.

To access from your navigation bar:

1. Sign in to your kit.
2. Hover your mouse over Results & Tools On the navigation bar at the top of the page.
3. Follow the drop-down menus to mtDNA > Discover™ Haplogroups Reports.
4. You are directed to the Your Haplogroup Story page.
